Internship Description

Project Assistant

The YABT is a non-profit corporation, affiliated with the OAS, to promote entrepreneur development programs for young people in the Americas and the Caribbean.

Skills Required

  • Willingness to learn, work with others on the team, interest in and commitment to goals of the YABT and the organization, and enjoy the challenge of creating a new organization.

  • Excellent communication / writing skills in one of the four official languages of the OAS: English, Spanish, French, and/or Portuguese.

  • Flexibility, resourcefulness, an entrepreneurial attitude, independence, creativity.

  • Helpful (but not required) experience: Business marketing, Internet, proposal writing.

Duties

Assist the Chief Executive and other YABT staff to:

  • Develop its programs to benefit young entrepreneurs, including research, preparing documents, letters, proposals, project profiles, Internet content, and case studies.

  • Mobilize resources to sponsor programs by identifying potential donors, contacting them, describing the YABT and its programs, and soliciting their participation and support.

  • Assist the YABT in preparing and translating documents for circulation, posting information on the website, and communicating with programs in the Member States.

  • Help organize special events, Board meetings, conferences, benefit functions, etc.

  • Participate in project and agency meetings, both in the OAS and in other organizations.

  • Undertake other general office duties as assigned necessary to support the programs and development of the Young Americas Business Trust.

Terms

Interns work with the YABT in the OAS Unit for Social Development and Education under the Intern Program of the OAS and are subject to the terms and conditions of that program. Internships are offered to provide work experience in international development and are unpaid.

The OAS Intern Program normally begins in January, June, or September; exceptions can be made, depending on the circumstances. Interns are expected to work at least 30; full-time (40 hours per week) internships are preferred.
